The Quiet Goodbye

“And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.” – Romans 16:17 (NLT)

The day had finally arrived for a simple, drama-free brunch. Four friends always met at this monthly brunch for fellowship, not friction. As they were opening in prayer, a guest of another sister who was absent showed up. She did not disclose her name, so I’ll call her Miss Misdirection.

Miss Misdirection didn’t waste a second letting the ladies know her mission. “You know you don’t have to read everything in the Bible, right? Everything in it is not for us. You always have to remix it to fit the times.”

The ladies were shocked. They looked at each other, shaking their heads. One sister opened a Bible and read out loud Romans 16:17.

That didn’t stop Miss Misdirection. She went on attempting to promote “energy,” “works,” and a mixture of astrology.

When she discovered that the ladies had sound doctrine and refuted all that she was carrying, she went silent and let her fork do the talking.

Takeaway✨ “Misdirection” is a house name, so her relatives are out there. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God…” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
